Frangipani incense, inspired by the fragrant blossoms of the Plumeria tree, traces its origins to tropical regions of Southeast Asia, Central America, and the Caribbean, where the flower has long been associated with spirituality and ritual. In Thailand, the frangipani—known locally as ลีลาวดี (ลีลาวดี)—was once linked to sorrow due to its former name, but its symbolism has shifted toward beauty, resilience, and calm.

Incense makers capture the flower’s sweet, creamy scent using blended resins and oils, creating sticks commonly used in temples and homes.

In Thai culture, frangipani incense plays a role in daily spiritual practice, particularly in offerings to Buddha and during merit-making rituals. Its soothing aroma is believed to promote mindfulness, purity, and a serene atmosphere conducive to meditation. Beyond religious use, it is also appreciated in spas and traditional healing settings, reflecting Thailand’s broader emphasis on harmony, sensory balance, and inner peace.

Our Fragpanie Incense is hand rolled by our lovely small scale fair trade producers in Thailand. They have a large garden where they grow their own flowers which they harvest and dry in the sun before rolling them into a fine powder. They then get a fine stick of bamboo which they roll in a little natural gum to make it sticky then roll it in the fragpani powder.

Because our incense is entirely natural you get a beautiful scent unlike many of the commercial incenses which merely spray their incense sticks with perfume which smells great in the packet but not so good when it burns!

Our Fragpani incense comes in a pack containing  8 high quality incense sticks, each stick measures 6 inches / 15 cm and will burn for 15 - 20 mins in a still room.
