Our colourful coconut kalimba make a lovely sound when you play them. They are handmade in Bali from natural materials by our lovely fair trade instrument makers.
They are hand painted with various animal designs, being hand painted each kalimba is different, so you have a unique instrument!
You play the kalimba by holding it in your hands with the metal prongs pointing towards you, the prongs or keys are then played with the thumbs. The Kalimbas are tuned to the oriental scale but can easily be tuned as desired by losen the screws, moving the keys and retightening the screws.
The base is made from a hand polished coconut, as coconuts are a natural product the size does vary but our kalimbas are approximately 15 cm ( 6 ") in diameter.
They are a great instrument for children or anybody who wants to join in a Jam, they require no previous musical knowledge!
