Our Handmade Paper Rainbow Set of 7 Chakra Books are pretty cool. The covers feature the seven chakras.
The Chakras
The concept of chakras originates from ancient Indian spiritual traditions, specifically within the framework of yoga, tantra, and Ayurveda. Chakras are believed to be energy centers located along the spine, each associated with specific physical, emotional, and spiritual qualities. There are typically seven main chakras, each representing different aspects of human existence.
Starting from the base of the spine and moving upwards, the seven chakras are:
1. **Muladhara (Root Chakra):** Located at the base of the spine, Muladhara represents grounding, survival instincts, and basic needs.
2. **Svadhisthana (Sacral Chakra):** Found in the lower abdomen, Svadhisthana is linked to creativity, sexuality, and emotional balance.
3. **Manipura (Solar Plexus Chakra):** Positioned in the upper abdomen, Manipura governs personal power, confidence, and self-esteem.
4. **Anahata (Heart Chakra):** Situated in the center of the chest, Anahata is associated with love, compassion, and emotional healing.
5. **Vishuddha (Throat Chakra):** Located in the throat region, Vishuddha governs communication, self-expression, and truth.
6. **Ajna (Third Eye Chakra):** Found between the eyebrows, Ajna represents intuition, insight, and spiritual awareness.
7. **Sahasrara (Crown Chakra):** Positioned at the crown of the head, Sahasrara is associated with spiritual connection, enlightenment, and consciousness.
Balancing and aligning these chakras is believed to promote holistic well-being, fostering harmony between mind, body, and spirit. Practices such as yoga, meditation, breathwork, and energy healing aim to activate and harmonize the flow of energy through the chakras, facilitating inner growth, healing, and spiritual awakening.
Our Handmade Paper Notebooks
Our notebooks are handmade for us by one of our fair trade producers working in the Kathmandu Valley, high up in the Himalaya.
We use traditional Nepali Lokta Paper in our books, Lokta Paper is a traditional Nepali craft going back thousands of years and is made from the Lokta or Daphne Bush, a wild shrub that grows wild in the Himalaya at altitudes of 5,000 - 13,000 ft where little else grows. It produces a fine textured paper that is valued for it's strength, durability and resistance to being eaten by insects. Infact historically Royal Decrees and Religious Texts were wriiten on Lokta Paper and is said to last for over 1,000 years!
Lokta Paper making has historically been important economically as it has been one of the few industries in Nepal dominated by women who are traditionally underemployed.
Our Lokta Paper is made in the traditional way in Kathmandu by a small business run by three Nepali Women. It is unusual in traditional countries like Nepal to find women running their own businesses, so we like to support them. Our handmade paper products are a bit different and make excellent gifts!
Lokta paper has a wonderful texture but is smooth enough to write or draw on. Each mini book contains approx 40 blank leaves of traditional handmade Lokta Paper. We recommend using a ballpoint or a pencil for writing / drawing in the books.
Our mini Lokta paper books make great party bag gifts, wedding favours or stocking fillers!
