Golden Eight Auspicious Signs Tibetan Buddhist Tingsha Bells - Beautiful Sound - Fair Trade from Kathmandu Golden Eight Auspicious Signs Tibetan Buddhist Tingsha Bells - Beautiful Sound - Fair Trade from Kathmandu

Tingsha, or Tibetan cymbals, hold profound symbolism and play an integral role in Tibetan Buddhist rituals and practices.  They are played by holding the middle of the leather strap and letting the Tingsha fall against each other. They produce a wonderfully rich sound.

They are traditionally crafted from a alloy of the same seven metals used in Tibetan Singing Bowls. Each metal is chosen for it's symbolism; Copper, the primary metal, represents the planet Venus and is associated with love, harmony, and balance. Tin symbolizes Jupiter and embodies wisdom and abundance. Iron, representing Mars, symbolizes strength and courage. Lead, associated with Saturn, represents grounding and stability. Gold, linked to the Sun, signifies purity and enlightenment. Silver, representing the Moon, embodies intuition and emotional balance.

In Tibetan Buddhism, tingsha are symbolic of enlightenment and the union of wisdom and compassion. When struck together, they produce a clear, pure sound that awaken one's consciousness and dispel negative energy. This resonant sound connects one with higher states of awareness and facilitate a deeper meditation experience.

Tingsha are often used in conjunction with other ritual instruments, such as singing bowls and drums, during ceremonies, puja (prayer) sessions, and meditation practices. They are commonly employed to mark the beginning and end of meditation sessions or to accompany chanting and recitation of prayers.

Beyond their ceremonial use, tingsha are also utilized in spiritual purification rituals, where their sound is believed to cleanse the environment and purify the mind. By invoking the sacred vibrations of the tingsha, you can cultivate inner peace, harmony, and spiritual awakening in alignment with the principles of Tibetan Buddhism.

These tingsha have the powerful Eight Auspicious Signs cast in relief on both Tingsha.  The Eight Auspicious Signs, revered in Tibetan Buddhism, symbolize blessings, prosperity, and spiritual enlightenment. They include the endless knot (representing interdependence), the lotus (symbolizing purity), the treasure vase (signifying wealth), the conch shell (representing the teachings of the Buddha), the victory banner (symbolizing the triumph of wisdom over ignorance), the dharma wheel (representing the path to enlightenment), the parasol (symbolizing protection from suffering), and the golden fish (representing liberation and abundance). These symbols adorn religious artifacts, artwork, and ceremonies, serving as reminders of the path to enlightenment and the attainment of inner peace and happiness.

Each Tingsha is approximately 60 mm in diameter and they weigh 160g
